Gateway Medical Equipment sells rehab division to American Seating & Mobility

Springfield, Oregon – January 11, 2017 – Gateway Medical Equipment announced today the sale of their rehab seating and power mobility division to American Seating & Mobility.

Said Michael Boren, CEO of Gateway Medical Equipment, “We are pleased to announce this sale. Over the past few months we have been working closely with American Seating and Mobility to find a way to provide mobility solutions for people relying on their insurance in Western Oregon. We have always been dedicated to finding ways to help the people of our community with their medical equipment needs, and we believe this partnership is a natural extension of that commitment.”

On July 1st, 2016 Medicare announced new reduced reimbursement rates for durable medical equipment (DME). These mid-year cuts reduced the amount that DME suppliers are paid by as much as 80% across nearly all product categories, leading to closures of many independent, family-owned medical equipment companies across the country.

“American Seating and Mobility specializes in rehab seating and power mobility products that are tailored to the user. As a growing organization in the Pacific Northwest, American Seating and Mobility has the scale and resources to provide excellent products and service to our region, while sharing our commitment serving our community. We believe this agreement will serve to enhance patient access to essential mobility devices in our communities” says Jane Boren, owner of Gateway Medical Equipment.

American Seating and Mobility, headquartered in Post Falls, ID currently has offices in Idaho, Montana, Washington and Portland, Oregon. “Serving people by finding the adaptive technologies and mobility solutions to enhance lives is at the core of our mission. We have years of experience helping people across the Northwest in getting the mobility devices they need and navigating the complexities of insurance reimbursement. Gateway Medical Equipment provides a wide range of products that are outside of our area of focus, making this a natural partnership. We look forward to serving Eugene, Springfield and the communities of Western Oregon,” said Andrew Jeske, CEO of American Seating and Mobility.
